about me
i'm sofia (aka fia, sofa, or oaf). i'm currently in high school in sydney, australia, and am hoping to study economics/law in the future. i have a poodle-shi tzu cross named Noxi (because she's black and white and i'm a nerd) who is ferocious and very cute.
my hobbies include debating, girl guides (currently completing my Queen's Guide), and volunteering at my local thrift store. i'm also completing two major works for school - a critical response for english ext 2 and an essay for history ext.
i'm a huge nerd who's loved books since i could read - i'm not super fit, but my back muscles are insanely strong because i carried like 4 novels in my backpack every day from the ages of five to twelve. my taste was admittedly stagnant until a few years ago, but since then i've made a conscious effort to cultivate my reading to focus on the intellectually nourishing. some of my favourite fiction authors are margaret atwood, fyodor dostoevsky, and vladimir nabokov. some of my favorite nonfiction theorists are byung chuul-han, andrea dworkin, angela davis, and germaine greer (problematic fave).
i've been vaguely interested in compsci for several years, but didn't learn html until a few weeks ago. previously i've learned python at some workshops and in school, have done some arduino programming in year 8, and blundered my way through an accelerated uni intro to c course, but this is really the first time i've delved into coding in a practical context. i elected to use a template, as i thought it would give me some programming context to build on, and i don't 100% regret it, but i do want to build beyond this sooner rather than later. still, i'm more interested in using this site as a platform to broadcast thoughts and writing rather than as a coding sandbox - more focused on content rather than form.
